Under the Ministry of Justice guidance, a registered foreign resident who stayed in Korea for at least 4 years during the last 10 years under E-9, E-10, or H-2 may apply to change to E-7-4 when the current skill, age, work-experience, Korean-language, point, and other requirements are met.
From February 1 through December 31, 2026, the E-7-4 wage threshold is at least KRW 26 million per year. Meeting these two checks alone does not guarantee approval.
The Ministry of Justice announced that, from June 2026, previous-employer service may count toward specified service requirements when a worker had to move because of closure, assault, unpaid wages, or another unavoidable reason. The change relates to the one-year employer recommendation requirement and the points for three years at the current workplace.
The permitted E-7-4 employment ratio in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries was also expanded to as much as 50% in specified cases. Confirm whether the rule applies to the particular employer and industry.
