Duty-Free and Traveler Customs Clearance

• In the Korea Customs Service (관세청) traveler carry-on customs clearance guide, check the basic duty-free allowance of US$800, the separate standards for alcohol, tobacco, and perfume, and the restrictions for minors.
• Agricultural, livestock, and fishery products, medicines, animals and plants, monetary instruments, and goods infringing intellectual property rights may be subject to declaration, quarantine, or restriction separately from the duty-free allowance.
• If duty-free shop purchases, overseas purchases, gifts, repaired items, or samples exceed the duty-free allowance, check whether voluntary declaration is required and how the tax amount is calculated.
• For a tax refund, the purchase store, the refund operator, the departure-hall procedure, and the conditions for verifying your passport, receipts, and goods must all be met.
• The customs standards of your destination country differ from Korea Customs Service standards, so check the customs standards of the destination country separately.

• "Do I not have to declare this item?"
• "Tell me how to avoid paying customs duties."
• "Are duty-free prices always cheaper?"

The questions above require checking the item, quantity, price, destination, and customs declaration standards.
